Description:  Ballet, beautiful and poised, has been revered for centuries. It is the basis of many other dance forms, and is used by sports athletes for injury prevention.  As exercise, ballet lengthens and strengthens the whole body simultaneously through strong body placement. Learning the art of ballet offers accomplishment and knowledge -- and it’s fun! Foundations of Ballet provides a safe, doable atmosphere by teaching fundamental exercises, repeating them, and building upon them.

 

Class plans include:
 
- contemporary warm-up
- barre exercises assisted by one or two hands on a chair
- center exercises without chairs (including our favorite arm work-out!)
- putting previous exercises together into a short piece of choreography
- end of class stretch
- Goals: greater length and strength, strong balletic posture, and good soreness tomorrow!

Instructor: Katie Briggs
When: Starts Wednesday, September 27th - November 1st
Time: 7:00pm - 8:00pm
 
Age: These classes are appropriate for 10yo through adult with and without prior ballet experience.
Duration: Six-week sessions holding one hour-long class per week
Cost: $60 all six weeks (refer a friend and receive $5 off for each up to 4 referrals)

Attire: leotards, tights, tanks, t-shirts, leggings, sweats, athletic shorts -- whatever is your preference for movement. Ballet or jazz shoes highly recommended (may be purchased through Payless or dance store)
